for primary education students

Priority to teachers’ members of the Hellenic Theatre/Drama & Education Network (TENet-Gr)

Skliro Karydi  is a drama workshop for students based on the book with the same title by author Eleni Svoronou offered in the context of the “it could be me – it could be you” project, implemented by the Hellenic Theatre/Drama & Education Network (TENet-Gr) in association with UNHCR Greece.

The “it could be me – it could be you” project and the workshops for students are approved by the Greek Ministry of Education, accredited by IDEA (International Drama/Theatre and Education Association) and are offered free of charge.

The workshop addresses primary education students.
Duration: 2 hours for a class or a group of up to 25 students
Facilitators: The author Eleni Svoronou and certified drama pedagogues assigned to the project.

The workshop along with the book and additional activity material are offered free of charge 

Workshop aims: Raising the awareness of students regarding the refugee crisis, the cultivation of empathy and the ability to put themselves in the position of others, growing a sense of solidarity and building an atmosphere of teamwork in classroom, preventing circumstances of rejection and bullying against students that stand apart. For older students, also: cultivating an active citizen stance, the ability to think critically and integrate problems such as the refugee crisis in the global and systemic dimension.

Short description: Introductory games for concentration and the development of a spirit of cooperation (creation of groups, body images etc.). Introduction to the story being discussed in “Skliro Karydi”. Reading excerpts and continuation of the story by the students (in writing). Processing the different pathways in the continuation of the story and dramatizing those with dynamic images. Discussing about what constitutes one as a “stranger”.


Reading the book beforehand is not a prerequisite.
