The "Monologues across the Aegean Sea" workshop primarily targets secondary education students and is presented in schools in the context of the “it could be me – it could be you” project, implemented by the Hellenic Theatre/Drama & Education Network (TENet-Gr) in collaboration with UNHCR Greece

The “it could be me – it could be you” project and the workshops for students are approved by the Greek Ministry of Education, accredited by IDEA (International Drama/Theatre and Education Association) and are offered free of charge..

The workshop is based on the book "Monologues across the Aegean Sea- the journey and dreams of unaccompanied refugee children" (2016) that includes 28 personal stories-testimonies of unaccompanied refugee children, a result of a cycle of workshops that took place in guest homes in Athens and Patra Greece, from April up until July 2016. The book’s texts are distributed for free

Duration of the Workshop: 2 hours for a class or group of up to 25 students

The workshop is designed by Sonia Mologousi, Iro Potamousi, George Bekiaris and Dionysia Asprogeraka, and is implemented by the project’s certified facilitators.

Short Description: The workshop has, as its main goal, to give students the opportunity to explore, decode, and set issues of human rights through stories-narratives of unaccompanied refugee children included in the book. In that context, the texts of the Monologues as well as extra audiovisual material constitute the starting point for the workshop and act as triggering events for dialogue and the creation of representations by those participating. The techniques of educational drama and the conventions that are proposed and applied during the workshop, constitute both the means for exploring the original material and also the tools for creating new images and actions by the participating students.

HOW CAN A SCHOOL SIGN UP FOR THE WORKSHOP:
